Activity

I will read Mario a book! BOARD RACE!!!

Students race to write the correct sentences.

PREP:
Cut the sentences on page 2 into strips. You only need one copy (or two if you have a very large class). It may be good to number the back side of the strips as well.

DIRECTIONS:
Give all students a worksheet. Put them into groups.

Tell students that one person has to come to the front of the room and grab a strip of paper.
They have to read the paper and memorize what it says. They can read it as much as they need, and come back to the front if they need to, but only one student in each group can see the paper.
When the student reading the paper memorizes what it says, they have to go back to their group and say the sentence.
The other members then have to write down what was said.
Once all members have written the sentence, a new group member goes to the front and the process repeats until all sentences are written down.

Have students janken to determine the order of who will come to the board first and begin the game. The game ends when all groups have finished.

After the game confirm that students got the sentences correct.

The first group to finish can get stickers or another prize if you'd like!

========================

Students seem to really enjoy this activity. It gets them moving and talking.
It can also be adapted for many grammar points.
