Activity

New Horizon - U.3 - Taste game(Filipino snacks)

Vocabulary game

Overview:
Let the students guess what is the actual taste of Filipino snacks by writing their answer in a scrap paper/white board provided per group.
Materials needed:
White board and markers / A4\B5 scrap paper on clipboard borrowed from teachers office and pencil
Procedure:

Practice vocabulary
Level 1
- bitter, sweet, salty, sour, spicy, delicious
- slide 1 (practice mode)
Make groups and give writing boards/paper
Show picture and name of the food
Count 5 seconds for each group to talk and write the answer
*** I observed that it's better if you let them race to raise the board for extra points
Check answer and share a brief history or why it's sweet, etc.
*** 1 point for correct answer, 1 point for group who raised the correct answer first
Level 2
- hard or soft and hot or cold
- groups will have to write 2 answers

Stamps or stickers will be given to the group with most points
Add food(slides)if desired to play the game longer

My 6th graders and the HRT enjoyed the game very much and I was able to share snack and foods in my own country. So, yey!

Thank you for making this. I hope I get an opportunity to use this in class. The pictures make me so hungry and miss home even more now.
