Comparative/Superlative Class survey

- good interview activity for JHS students to practice comparatives and superlatives

  1. The teacher has to explain/review the comparative and superlative patterns. For example for using comparative questions the use of ~er, more ~, better ~ and for superlatives the use of ~est, most~, the best~

  2. Students write a comparative question comparing 2 students in class. The questions may include " Who is _(taller/ faster/more beautiful/ better in Math...) They can also write a superlative question about a student in class. For example, "Who is the ____ in class? (tallest/ fastest/ best in English/ best baseball player...)

  3. Then students interview other students asking their question and recording the answers of their classmates in the worksheet.

  4. After interviewing other students, they have to tally the answers and write the final answer to their survey.

I'm not sure asking students to compare each other in terms of being smart or beautiful is the best idea.
