He is a... / She is a... matching game.

A quick and fun matching game designed to practice "He is a..." "She is a..."

Cut each A4 sheet into 8 parts, with half containing the picture and the other half containing the words. Hand out the parts equally and at random, making sure that there are no odd numbers (you don't want a student wandering around looking for a non-existent partner). If you have too many, it's no problem, you can hand out the excess papers to selected students (they will then have 2) and tell them that they are lucky. When they find their partner, they come to the teacher for confirmation, and then they can sit down. For a more beneficial experience, ask the students to not show the other people the picture or words, but instead say the sentence out loud. They could also say the sentence as they show it to the teacher. You can easily do this activity over 2 rounds by alternating which half of the class gets pictures and which half gets the sentences.

This is a great activity! I have very small classes (4-5 students), so I often adapt this game to Go Fish or a turn-over-the-correct-pair memory game instead. If anyone else has small classes, these adaptations work well!
