DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  • Review parts of speech (adjective, noun, verb) and write examples on the board.
  • Have students form pairs and give each pair a copy of the worksheet.
  • Instruct one student to interview their partner and fill in the missing words. Assure them that there is NO RIGHT answer and use their imaginations.
  • After the students have finished filling in the blanks, allow them time to read the story together.
  • Have the students switch roles and complete the other story

VARIATIONS:

  • Make sure you review parts of speech before starting the activity.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • An excellent option is to walk around the room and take the best answers to create a meta-story. Then read this story for the students and have your JTE make sure they understand the story. Some of the answers will be intentionally or unintentionally hilarious so enjoy reading their completed compositions!

TIPS/CAUTIONS:

  • Make sure the students don’t try to understand the story first and fill out the worksheet with the "correct" answers. Part of the fun of this activity is creating a funny story.
