Climate Change Lesson (SHS)

This lesson focuses on listening and reading skills and helps to introduce climate change related vocabulary using student led learning.

ALT asks students "What is climate change?". Students discuss their ideas in pairs. This can be done in Japanese and/or English.

The ALT then reads out a passage on the teacher's copy of the handout. Students listen to the dictation and fill in the blanks on their handout.
The ALT then goes through the answers, getting each student to read out an answer.

Next the students read the next passage and underline any words they do not understand. After reading the students choose 3 words that they underlined and ask their partner "What does ___ mean?". If neither student knows they can use a dictionary. Once the students understand their 3 chosen words, they must write definitions for them using English.

To finish students can make sentences with their 3 chosen words.
