Funny Lyrics Listening Challenge

Enjoy the creepiness of "Every Breath You Take" expressed in GIFs along with a fill in the blank lyrics listening challenge.

DIRECTIONS

  • Pass out the lyrics worksheet.
  • Have students fill in the blanks from the word bank as they listen to the song embedded in the slides.
  • On the Round 2 slide, go to a specific lyrics slide, replay all the slides, or skip to the GIFs (red button).
  • From slide 16, the whole song begins to play. Move through the slides in time with the song.
    • I recommend practicing at least once to understand the timing.

NOTES

  • Before showing the GIFs, tell your students that this song is very creepy. It will help them enjoy the song more!~
  • If the lyrics look wonky, try downloading the Chiller font from the fonts dropdown or reducing the size.
    • You can also replace all instances of a font by going to the editing section under home (it should be towards the upper right), click the carrot next to replace, then choose replace fonts.

The GIFs are hilarious! I have to ask though, what font and font size did you originally use? I downloaded it but the format went all wonky.

Oh no! Sorry about that! I used Chiller for the lyrics and the titles, the Japanese is in BIZ UDPMincho Medium, and everything else is Calibri.

I was able to fix it by changing the font size to 88. Thanks again!

The gif of one cat flinging the other into a bin had me in tears! This is great!

Ha! ha! ha! HA! Fantastic, my third grade surfer dude English teacher is going to love this. Thank you.

This must've taken so much time, but it looks so fun to play with them! Thanks for sharing! Also, would you reccommend adding more blanks and words to the word bank the further you go up a grade? I was thinking of using the current pdf for 1st years, then 2nd years subtract a couple more verbs and so on.

Absolutely hilarious and perfect gifs! Now I have to figure out a reason for my teacher to let me do this with my students!

@Hotokeki I don't really recommend adding more blanks. None of our students got them all and I made this more for puzzling out the meaning than for the listening. I think it's a good way to get their feet wet, but adding more blanks might make it demoralizing.
