Activity

American Thanksgiving

Powerpoint and simple activity about a holiday in the US.

This powerpoint was originally made by xxjanism! I made some edits to make it more geared towards elementary level. Which was simplifying the writing, adding cute clipart/animations, and changing some images I felt captured the holiday a bit more to what I know. And updating the calendar to this year of course.

For an activity we are making turkeys! I attached a worksheet but it can also be done with a blank paper.

Step 1 - Trace your hand with any writing utensil
Step 2 - On the thumb, draw an eye and a beak, connect the wrist lines, and draw legs
Step 3 - Color the turkey
Step 4 - Ask for volunteers to share their turkey! They can share what colors they used in English.

That's all for now! I may update this with more activities if I find the time. Happy Turkey Day! :)

Looks nice! But, you might want to edit some of the Japanese. For example, the Japanese says that Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November (instead of the 4th Thursday as it says in the original English), and although it usually ends up being so it isn't always - like this year! Also, for example, 香辛料 is こうしんりょう.

Thanks for the heads up! I went and updated the powerpoint :)

Also I recommend sharing videos highlighting this year's balloons for the parade, and if I were to teach this again I'd go more in depth explaining turkeys!
