All about Anime Jeopardy

Jeopardy game made on Google Slides for New Horizon 2 Unit 7.

This is a Jeopardy game I made with anime as a central theme to practice the passive voice. My students had lots of fun with it, so I thought more people could enjoy it if I posted it here. There are four themes in total, characters, places, powers, and music, which I feel like are all pretty self explanatory.

I usually have them play in groups, with a different person answering each time. I get them to answer verbally in full sentences, and I don't accept one word answers. Of course, you can have them write on a whiteboard or any other way you're used to doing it.

Just like every Jeopardy game, clicking on the numbers in the Jeopardy chart will link you to the appropriate question slide. After your students answer, click through until you reach the white slide with the answer sentence. There'll be a home button on the bottom right corner that will take you back to the chart when you click it.

If you have time after finishing the entire chart, there's a "1000 or Nothing" bonus question that you can access by just going to the next slide from the chart.

As there are a different number of slides for every question and the answer isn't revealed the same way every time, I suggest you familiarize yourself with it before using it in class.

Notes:

  1. I picked the anime based on what I know and what I thought my students would know. For me, it worked out pretty well, but the 100 and 200 point questions in the "Places" category are pretty location specific, and might only be considered easy because my students live in Sendai. Feel free to copy and edit the Slides however you like.

  2. There're playable music clips in some of the music questions. They're actually just Youtube videos that I've scaled down to the absolute smallest size. You can start the music by just clicking or hitting enter. But if your students want to hear it one more time, remember to hit the backspace button before hitting enter again, or you'll end up showing them the answer accidentally.

  3. I couldn't figure out how to make the point numbers disappear after they've been clicked on in Google Slides. So instead, I draw a mini chart on the blackboard and cross off the boxes on there so the students know which questions have been answered.

  4. I'm aware that some of these questions sound a little awkward in the passive voice, but that was what my JTE wanted the students to use. You're, of course, free to copy and change the wording as you please.

Thank you very much for sharing the link. It's great when you're not a subscriber.

Looks great and the questions aren't too difficult I think.

One thing though, not only does "who is _____ (v) by?" sound weird, that's not really used in the textbooks, at least not in the ones I've seen. I think "by whom is ________" or "_________ by whom" is much better and simpler in my opinion.
